About this guide

Skadar Lake Guide is an independent, local-run travel resource for the largest lake in the Balkans. Everything on this site is written from personal experience — the boats I've been on, the restaurants I actually eat at, the parking spots that work in July.

I've spent most of my life around Virpazar. I've watched Skadar go from a place foreign travellers had never heard of to a genuine destination, and I've watched a lot of good and bad information get published about it. This site is my attempt to give visitors the version I'd give a friend.

What we don't do

We don't take paid rankings, we don't resell tours with a markup, and we don't run affiliate links on anything we wouldn't recommend to family. When we point you at a specific operator, it's because that operator does the job well.
