The Apartment I Recommend Near Skadar Lake
Where to stay near Skadar Lake — the apartment I keep sending guests to and why.
4 min read · Updated May 2025
There is no five-star hotel on Skadar Lake. What there is: family guesthouses, a handful of hotels of varying quality, and a small number of self-catering apartments that punch well above their price tag.
The one I recommend
The apartment I send friends to is a self-contained place close to Virpazar, quiet at night, well-equipped, easy to reach by car. Two people fits comfortably; a small family fits fine.
Why apartment over hotel
- Kitchen — genuinely useful if you're staying more than one night
- Space to actually relax after a full day on the water
- Better value than the equivalent hotel room
- Local host who'll tell you which restaurant to try
Alternatives
Two well-run family guesthouses on the Virpazar main road are consistently good for one-night stays (45–65 EUR/night). If you need more comfort, base in Podgorica and day-trip.
