Day Trip: Podgorica to Skadar Lake
A tight itinerary for doing Skadar Lake as a Podgorica day trip.
4 min read · Updated April 2025
The Skadar day trip from Podgorica is the easiest thing on your Montenegro itinerary. Here's the version that works.
The tight itinerary
- 08:00 leave Podgorica
- 08:40 arrive Virpazar, park at reserved spot
- 09:00 boat tour (4-hour private, or 2-hour group if you're short on time)
- 13:00 lunch on the square
- 14:30 walk the old bridge and Besac fortress
- 16:00 drive back to Podgorica
Alternative: sunset version
Leave Podgorica at 15:00, arrive Virpazar 15:45, sunset cruise 17:00–19:30, dinner at 20:00, back in Podgorica by 22:30. Different mood, arguably better.
What to pre-book
Boat tour and, in July/August, parking. Everything else you can arrange on the day.
